To be a Community Partner, the entity must:
- Practice a mission/programmatic focus that centers around the arts, culture, nature, or community building.
- Promote the inclusion of all individuals to the fullest extent possible (affinity groups are welcomed, whereas we do not include audition-based or competitive groups in the network)
- Meet the Art Pharmacy Standard of Care
- Have a method for a 3rd party (Art Pharmacy!) to make reservations and payments on behalf of a member. (Consider if memberships, portals, or special codes are required!)
And they must provide an engagement that is:
- Rooted in a creative, cultural, or nature-based process or product
- Engages participants in an experience that cultivates an emotional connection, a sense of belonging, or chance for self-reflection or self-expression through participatory or receptive activities.
Types of Engagements Art Pharmacy looks for
- Varied frequency of events: one-off or drop-in options, monthly series, membership options for more frequent access
- Diverse participant body: open to a range of ages
- Introductory level offerings
- Open to community (no audition requirement, non-competitive)
- Dependable, reliable scheduling, descriptions of events (that meet the reality of event), events scheduled 4-6 weeks in advance
- Varied types of partners: large institutions, community-based organizations, traditional arts organizations, community centers and libraries, individual Teaching Artists, etc.
- Opportunities where materials are provided (no requirement to bring anything/wear anything specific)
- Does not include clinical art therapy practices. (At this time, Art Pharmacy matches members to social, community-based interventions rather than clinical art therapy.)
